Yes I've used Trend Micro as well, the most virulent POS you can every load on your machine, it kills every thing (except virus's) blocks 99.9999999999999% of legitimate software, surprisingly not the browser just so you can find out how F'ked up you really are for loading it.

Do a total removal, suck up your losses (you wont get a credit) and do what everyone here advised download the free version of AVAST (unless theres something better)

No this isnt Trend Micro on our machines.... Its Trend Micros RBL The list that email scanners look up to see if the IP addresses is spammy.

In effect Trend is telling the world that the entire Telstra NBN IP address range is spammy and to block/reject email sent from it.

We cannot do anything to 'fix' it other than complain via Trends Email Reputation 'Service' https://ers.trendmicro.com/reputations
Telstra have sent them the IP ranges stating that they are static but Trend are refusing to unblock them at the moment.

It took me while to figure out what was happening as when the emails get block there isn't always a sensible NDR. Some stated that Trend blocked it others that the mailbox was unavailable. When I contacted the companies we were sending to, they were complaining that it wasn't just our email that wasn't getting through. They had email 'missing' from other companies.

I thought it may just be the one company affected but I saw NDRs for another company I admin for and then it really clicked - whole ranges were being blocked.

Let Telstra Know they would have far more influence getting it fixed

Telstra were involved first off... they have actually been quite helpful.

They've provided the IP ranges 2 days ago and told Trend that they are to be treated as static.
Trend are now complaining that the rDNS doesn't match the sending server - Telstra have change these as well (although not something I've ever had to get set before now)

The problem with how Trend are checking the rDNS is that it can only reference 1 IP address per domain - the server is hosting more than 1 domain so the rDNS lookup will still fail - thus get blocked by them.

What Trend are doing is the equivalent of declaring all snail mail from NSW is to be blocked because someone didn't put the return address on one envelope or someone in Sydney might send a can of spam in a parcel.

Its a ridiculous and over the top approach to reduce spamming.

Until you get spammed .... then you will be complaining that Trend is useless and doesnt stop spam

just sayin!

Elmo,
we've run Trend on our desktops and servers for at least 10 years with zero problems.
Never heard of any of the problems you are describing
horses for courses I guess.

I don't have an issue with the idea of using RBLs... but they way Trend are going about it is ridiculous.
They refuse to check that the specific IP address we have raised to them is a legitimate company and thus email service.
They refuse to lift the blacklist as a temporary measure to allow mail while its investigated.

You are treated as being guilty of spamming - even when its obvious your not. (Otherwise we would be on heaps of RBLs)

Kinda reminds me of how the Police operate in Ferguson county

I think some anti viruses are more trouble than they are worth.

I can't say anything bad about trend, which I've used in the past. But don't get me started on Norton.
