As a Tasmanian and a footy lover I would love to see an AFL team for my own State. Believe vote for the approval of a team by the AFL is in August I think. Do we think it will happen or not? Just a note I'm not a Hawthorn or North Melbourne fan myself, I'm Collingwood. Go the Pies![]()
I don't think the AFL should go there. I went there once, it was kind of nice. Dark Mofo was cool in a boring sort of way. But I felt Hobart was dull, cold and gloomy. I met a guy there who had a strange limp a lazy left eye and talked very slowly, I sensed he may have been a few bob short of a dollar.
I went to Port Arthur and to Freycinet and it was stunning. Devonport is a hole, Launceston was like a retirement village. The whole island has negative vibes.
What they did to the indigenous population, how they treated the convicts, the whales, the red pelets they feed the introduced salmon and then there was Martin Bryant. Not to mention the amount of money the mainland wastes on the loser island. The island is jinxed and I'd vote for it to be left off the Australian map.
I will never go to the cold shixhole again. The AFL doesn't need players who have webbed feet and wear home made uniforms. It's a really bad look!
The AFL should try to get a team going in South Africa before trying to get one going in Tasmania.
Its a winter sport, the state with permanent winter would slay the viccos. Bring it on.
Then add an icy street circuit V8supercars round too.
All sponsored by Boags and uggs. Perfect.

Its called the AFL right?
1. There bloody well, absolutely should be a team in each k'n state+territory and each team should have mandatory, local beer sponsorship.
2. Every new migrant upon entry to this great country should be allotted a team + a years supply of beer (so the newbies can easily make new local friends) and given free home game tickets for a decade as part of the cultural indoctrination process.
3. Comprehending Aussie rules is an essential trait of being Australian, if one doesn't understand the game or the joy of ice cold beer for that matter, one should NOT get citizenship.
In a nutshell, NO passport for ten years until one can scream relevant religious references from the boundary and explain what the hell is a white maggot while knocking back a cold one. AND Clive Palmer, Gina and Twiggy should pay for everything always & forever with beer, hot chips & game day tickets to the MCG to watch the Pies loose on the big stage, ideally in Sept. Now there's a policy for the election!
Go the reserve grade Eagles... suck eggs Capt

You are speaking in tongues. No footy and the best place... yeah, naaaaaagh. Must be a pretty unustrayan place you speak of, please explain.
I think perhaps not many Aussies understand the fundamental issue with the AFL.
and the NRL. and a few more 'sports'.
The teams that should be playing in the top tier league are the teams who get there by merit. The teams who work hard and win games. Not because a rich business owner bought a franchise or by the private owners of the 'sport' deciding who plays and who doesn't.
The only way any team should be playing in the AFL is :
1) Get 17 of your mates/work colleagues/villagers/random strangers together and form a team
2) Sign up for the local league.
3) Win the local league and get promoted to be able to play in Division 4.
4) Win Division 4 and get promoted to be able to play in Division 3
5) Win Division 3 and get promoted to be able to play in Division 2
6) Win Division 2 and get promoted to be able to play in Division 1
7) Win Division 1 and so long as you have the ability to host other teams in suitable infrastructure get promoted to the top league.
Never seen the tennis players at Wimbledon being there because their owner bought a ticket for them to play. Never seen a relay team swimming 100m freestyle because they were sent to somewhere the swimming authorities decided they wanted to have a team come from.
Pretty weird concept that somebody buys the right to enter a team into a 'sport', then the 'owners' of the sport tell the person which town they have to name their team after and where they are permitted to have a 'home' sports ground.
The question is actually : Should the AFL Company Incorporated establish a regional sales office in Tasmania to tap into the profit market down there. Will it enhance the brand image ?
Does WA have a NRL team???
Seems they should, as they all seem to be born with mullet hair styles and struggle to talk coherently,
and they all seem to speak fluent Tourette's.
One might say they have been bred for the sport.![]()

Don't think I've ever seen the words Tasmania and profit used in the same sentence. Well done Sir.
