Hey gurus- I can't find an answer to this but might not be phrasing it right in my googling....
If I have a board to duplicate and I create it in Shape3D from measurements - can I then ask the program to take a 3mm off all over to account for a PVC sandwich layer? Then it will be shaping a blank designed to have PVC all over....
(The reason I wish to, is - if I am visualising this right - reducing thickness and width points by 3mm is all good but the rail tuck will move by a different amount (not necessarily 3mm) if I just reduce everything all over by 3mm. ?? It would also be nice to be able to automatically drop the rear half of the deck by 3mm to create a rebated area for double sandwich on half the board)
It can be reduced by three millimetres however if you are doing this to thickness and rails it may affect the rocker on the board, depending also what choices you have in regards to rail shape, boxy, rounded etc etc.
have you considered leaving the three mill where it is? I would be tempted if concerned to just leave it ..... or alternatively change dimensions by 1 mm to 1.5 overall and after glassing you will only be +1.5mm ( if reducing) or +3mm top and bottom and quite possibly 6mm overall width and length.
I once snapped off a foot of nose on a seven footer it rode exactly the same as before, I know we are all pedantic and I will get slapped across the keyboard for saying this but........is three mm really that important ( John John or Kelly may notice it but for us mere mortals at least it would give an excuse for bogging a rail)
apologies I don't think I actually gave a helpful answer
( just leave it and press print)
