So I'm not sure if it works the same around most of the country but I have two bins (same size) one general waste and one recycling (cardboard, cans, glass, plastic and basically anything with that little triangle on it) my question is, given that more and more products are coming in recyclable packaging, should I have my recycling bin collected every week and my general waste every fortnight?

Currently I have the general waste collected every week and recycling every fortnight.

I always manage to fill my recycling bin to the MAX usually about a week after it being empty and my general wast bin is often half full on collection day.

Am I alone with this? And if the council did change it, do you think there would be too many bogans filling up the recycle bins with the wrong stuff?

Every week with recycling would be handy - hides the can and stubby evidence from the wife. Bogans support your cause brother - united as one

I think the problem is they already do. I went to a place once where they were separating out the recycle stuff and I reckon a good 50% was discarded as "wrong"
Felt for the poor buggers working there, with needles, sh1tty nappies etc going thru and it is sorted by hand

OTOH I chucked a car diff centre in the recycle bin cos it is steel so I figured that is good?? The truck driver heard it hit the floor of the truck, yeah probably loud lol and he climbed in, fished it out and threw it back on my lawn. Hmmm

BTW you are lucky having recycling. My town of 40,000 people can't manage it

A town of 15,000 does....... hmmmmm

I'd love to, as my bin is chockers after a week

under the Packaging council's covenant you are required to have access to recycling....if you don't the manufacturer of the product is required to take responsibility for the used packaging. Ie ring them and say I have six empty cans from you - and can you please come and get them for recycling.
