I'm currently working in Chillagoe FNQ, due to all the rain we have had the Walsh river has come up about 5m and flowing fairly fast at the moment, Would it be worth throwing some lures around at the moment or wait for it to settle down a bit? the rain has finally stopped and I have a day off on Saturday so I don't want to waste a chance at a fish!!
Cheers

no idea about fishing in chillagoe. but the caves are good. do you head down the mitchell? I daresay the fishing there would be a lot more reliable. Chillagoe would be a long way upstream (it would flow to the gulf?)plenty of sooties though i would imagine. small minnows like leads etc in the deeper holes. or old school beef heart

I have caught sooties at mt surprise just don the road. and dont know how far it is from kidston dam but they have sooties and redclaw there.

Its about a hour and a half drive to the Mitchell from Chillagoe but the causeway at the Walsh is under. The caves are great fun to explore! I think I'll go out to the causeway and have a crack anyway (beats sitting in town doing bugger all)
Cheers
