There's been a lot of Heavy Weather leaking out into STB lately. Moderation has been pretty relaxed, especially considering how Climate Change is now a very mainstream topic, despite the ongoing politicization of it. Still, it might be time to send some of these topics back home...

Laser beams??? Why do these people bring up laser beams. I would be pretty impressed if you could build lasers like that to set things on fire from such a distance and still not be noticable in the sky.
Why oh why do these people never have a grasp of physics? Oh hang on, I just realised that its self-selecting and the people that understand these things just dismiss it as a harmless joke.

Well, it's about time for the VFT to come up again. It's on an ever repeating 8 year cycle.... every 7-8 yeas I used to have to work out what changes would be needed for the transmission system to supply it, and it's been that long since I last did it. Just keep pulling the old folder out of the bottom drawer.

It's probably the dumbest conspiracy theory around. Most, perhaps all, of the worst bushfires are in places that are utterly unsuitable for high speed rail because they are mountainous, and well away from the proposed line. Why do they think that burning the trees in a national park or state forest is going to make it easier to put a high speed railway line through it anyway?
The biggest fires include the one in the Snowy (well away from proposed railways), the Carrai Creek etc complex inland of Coffs and Kempsey (a vast area, almost all well away from the proposed lines and in mountainous country), the South Coast fires (about 150 km from any line), etc. The Green Wattle Creek fire seems to have been worst around the old Picton Loop Line, which was discarded in favour of the better current railway alignment many years ago. And if you WANT a high speed rail line then you'd promote the idea of living in the country so you get more customers, not try to drive your potential customers to move back to the city because of fires.
It's also an insult to the RFS volunteers that they wouldn't notice or say anything - they are on the ground and would notice lasers flicking around, as would others in the area.
There's a conspiracy by conspiracy theorists - they are driving to drive sane people mad with their idiocy.
Then again, maybe it's an anti-conspiracy conspiracy. Y'see, if everyone use high speed rail then there'd be fewer airliners to be used to drop chemtrails on everyone, which would stop the guys who are running the Great Chemtrail Conspiracy.
It would certainly take less effort to bulldoze a clearing 100m wide for the length of the line that it would be to put the fires out at the moment?

The fires are burning so well that they are firing more lasers in there to stop them going out....... 'cause that makes sense.
And if you want to do something secret and underhanded, what better time and place than in an area with dozens of firefighters, photographers, cops, and a bunch of other aircraft hanging around to see your top-secret weapon in action?

Yeah that's what I thought, why are the lasers pointed at already ignited fires? By the time the fires are that big you wouldn't need to still be lighting them...

Its obvious really, they are co2 lasers and the fires generate co2 and they are used to project holograms that are hiding the alien invasion and destruction that is really happening here
