Sorry I know this thread has been done already but I was so pumped with my little Ozito that I had to contribute. The old thread was too old to resurrect.
These are from one of three lawns at my rental that were heaps overgrown, I didn't think the Ozito would be up to the job but it smashed it,.. so impressed. Thought it was worth sharing.
Looks good - surprised that low cost ozito did such a good job !! Does that mean if you spend more = better result or ozito good enough
A man after my own heart. A landlord going cheap by mowing the lawns himself, manually.
I bought a push mower recently myself after the last thread. Love it. Lawn is looking great. I use it for trims between the lawnmower man. The lack of width is more than made up for by the speed I can push the much lighter push mower compared to my John Deere mulched mower, and by the lack of emptying the catcher on the Briggs and Stratton. Yes I now have three lawn mowers and a lawn mower man.
A man needs a quiver doesn't he? Don't judge...
and don't always take a full width cut to keep the reel speed up, in heavy going.
This goes for all types of mowers/slashers.
Just put in FLAWN (fake lawn) then get a plastic lawnmower the grand kids can push around, much better!
How hard are they hard to push? My parents had one from the 60s or 70s and it was increadibly hard.
i watched this vid a couple of years back and it kinda put me off?
Very easy. I had the same problem when I got old enough to mow the lawn back in the 70s. I think the problem was a lack of lubrication.
A couple of local kids, aged about 12, saw me using mine and were surprised how easy it was to push.
The problem is that it doesn't cut stalky stuff like dandelions or paspalum as easily as your noisy petrol mower will.

We've got couch everywhere (not sure if common couch or blue couch) and it hardly grows upward, but spreads outward, which is awesome because in 12 months I only mow a few times. if left for a couple of months it does get fine seed stalks that stick up about 10 to 15cm. Do you think it would cut them okay?

How often do the blades need sharpening? And how much of a pain in the arse is it to sharpen them?

Probably. It's long stalks that are the problem because they get rolled over and don't get scissored off.
The other problem is twigs jam the blades.
That is funny, but I did push my mower whole day to eat Lantana bushes.I have self propelled mower/mulcher with B&S 5.5HP motor
But I had to PUSH it very hard on top of 1 - 1.5 meter height dense bush to eat everything below.
Once mower landed on top of that dense grass - bush it worked out his path down to clear ground.
So I managed to clear a path 2 meter wide and 300m-400m long while " pushing" my mower to extreme.
Last weekend I did PUSH my Kubota ride on mower to do the same in opposite direction - but looks like this B&S is better to clean bush.You never know what is hidden in this dense bush _ stump or rock.
Light mower tolerate much better sudden hit by rock or stump or old branch.BTW>Once pushing my mower slowly trough the bush I have to go under the tree where 3-4 meter long python was sitting on the branch !Just a meter apart !Looks like smart beast escaped on the tree to avoid my push brush mower in the long grass.So I could call me exercise Pushing Mowers to the brink of destruction.
