Picking up a car near airport in perth and heading north with fam and kids. Plan is to do pinnacles lancelin and wedge isand, stay the night at jurian bay and do the sea lion charter at 8am then go to gero for the next night then back to perth returning car at 5pm. Never been to wa before but will have done from perth south in the three weeks prior. Does that sound ok? Jurian bay only close to perth but sea lion charter either 8 or 10am . Any other sights/ recommendations?
Perth to Lancelin is about hour n 40 from the heart of the city.
wedge is half hour from Lancelin you can spend a good day lanno / bakery /beach/ big sand dunes/ epic epic pub looking over the water.
wedge island a bit of 4x4 bring a board if ya surf.
from there it's 45 to the pinnacles you can burn a good hour or two there ......
j bay is another 45- hour from the pinnacles and if you make it that far in a day with all those stops it's a huuuuge day.
The seal experience is pretty cool and Jurien marine park is a good outing.
If there is a specific reason you are going to Geraldton epic but if not it's still a huuuge drive from Jurien and not a lot of reward when you get there,, ok for a day in Geraldton but you may enjoy another day at wedge beach or Lancelin a bit more and be able to relax
Since your with the family, if its a nice day it's worth having lunch or a swim at Hangover Bay whilst your at the Pinnacles. It's pretty much just across the road and not a bad spot.
As with Razz, i found the sea lion swim and tour was a pretty good day out!

2nd Hangover Bay for lunch and or a swim.
Pinnacles is best at sunrise and sunset. Lighting and colours are better and it won't be stinking bloody hot.
Id spend the day at Lano, Wedge, Pinnacles, arrive in J-Bay after dark, spend all of the next day taking in J-Bay and surrounds, another night in in town then day three cruise back to Perth stopping in at your favourite place again. Gero seems too far to add into a two night family road trip.
^^^ I agree with this.
****, I've never bothered going to Gero in my life. I've missed nothing.
Apart from some of the best winds and dwinders on the planet
apart from that I'm with you, it is changing though
the west end of town is getting pretty funky with great cafe scene/ street art trendy boutiques
theyve just completed a great promenade to the north of town which would rival any coastal town / city , but yeh it has its dark sides with drugs n booze but nothing worse than anywhere else
F off, were full ![]()
were full, but empty now?... Sorry Darth, I've just got all heated up from the grammar page...

Yes, those yellow things on the promenade are a nice touch, not sure if it was art or industry.
Don't forget Dongara, nice place, much nicer than lano and a better bakery.

You just have to stay on the west side of both highways when you're in town and you'll avoid most the problems.
you can't beat quiet Life in the West End for a coffee though.
As above, unless you've got a particular reason, i wouldn't burn yur time travelling to Gero. Spend the time around Lanno/Cervantes.
Im not sure why those above are recommending a visit to Hangover bay for though. Rubbish spot. ![]()
Thanks all. No longer going to gero after yr good advice. Will book an extra night at jurian. Already in WA. Kallamunda nice.. Rottnest tomorrow. Did city to freemantle today. Kings park, cottesloe and city lights yesterday. Spending two weeks with sisters family camping in south incorporating albany, esperance, denmark, margaret river Etc. They've been here one year and have been down there so they are taking us. Should be good. Water and temperature a lot cooler than i thought. I couldnt bring myself to swim at Cottesloe.

Thanx Rex that's why I chose to live here, Dunno about the bakery though, I have a little cafe on the beach, we don't do fast food, we do healthy food as fast as we can

As for those who have given the Midwest a thumbs down, you need to see what our region has, a day at abrohlos islands is possibly one of the most amazing trips anywhere on the planet, I've lived in 7 countries and none have come close, where else can you walk into the water grab a few crayfish close in, Kite or windsurf in pristine conditions, rounded off with amazing sunsets and deserted beaches,

if you have the time check out Moore river - Guilderton, nice little spot on the way to Lancelin
Yep agree , good chilling spot

Not sayin it ain't a great place to visit.Given the limited time MUN has to trave, its probably going to burn more time than he has, for very little gain. Given longer than a weekend i'd tell him to travel through and see all of it.
Also a jump at skydive Jurien bay
32 years ago was my last jump, and not over this terrain
well worth it and a great family gig, one of the best skydives on the planet, crew travel from all over the world to get on it

No one's giving the mid west the thumbs down as most of us know there are some incredibly special things to see and do both along the coast and inland a bit.
It's just that Geraldton itself really isn't one of those places. It's nothing personal, I wouldn't recomend visiting Meeka or Carnarvon either![]()
Plenty of things to see and do north of J-bay through to Gero but with only three days, two nights I wouldn't burn the time travelling so far.

South beach is a gem, I was there on New year's Day a couple of years ago, must have been 80 vehicles along the beach, everyone just chilling and enjoying.
Thanks for the imfo all. Enjoying time here. Staying at sisters house (who has been here for a year) at kallamunda which is very nice. Been doing the perth area stuff. Heading to Albany for a week then margaret river area for a week then will head up to jurien. ??

Holy shxt how are watersports popular here? Its freezing. In albany we had single digit overnight temp. Currently in margaret river. Sleeping in trackie dacs jumper and beanie because the sleeping bags not enough l!
Dodged the great whites yesterday for a couple of cray. Lovely part of the world. But having been on seabreeze for so long and heard about all these places i kinda pictured it being warmer...
Mountain bike tracks are good
Its not normally this cold. This seems to be a cold summer.
Albany is colder though, it keeps the great whites happy ![]()
