I am a FIFO worker looking for Paradise Island in Asia for my R&R's this winter
Ideally it would have great kite surfing good surfing and cheap,
Some where not to crowded but easy access to International Airport
Any ideal would be great
Depends on how long your R+R is?
One place I spent a fair bit of time is South Sumatra,. can get windy and has so really good waves. Super cheep as well, its been a while since I was there but I was paying $25 a night, all meals included a stones through from one of the longest lefts in Indo (2013).
Google paradise surf camp for more details. The reason I ask about you length of R+R is it takes a while to get there. Perth-Jakarta-Bnada Lampund= aprox 24hrs and then you have a 6hr car ride. But its all worth it as the ****ing around general keeps the crowds to a minimum.
Def depends on length of time you have.
Doing 2/1 rotation I got sick of longer flights with 1 even two stop overs to get to the Philippines or even Thailand especially cause the first day of r&r you'd always just come off nightshft feel like a zombie.
The Gilis during the dry season are great more wind than Bali , , , awesome diving, 3 islands to drift between with wicked scenery Mt Rinjani about 14000ft is just over there.
Two of the island's have righthanders that only start breaking when desert pt is bout 6ft and bigger.
I think there's a vid or two on utube of Gili air breaking.
Flights to Bali/Lombok so convenient they r always coming and going, quick, cheap, direct.
Thats what youll want jf you only have 7 days after nightshift.
But really so many options if your willing
Cheers Gazuki and djt
I work a two and two roster so I have the time to travel, South Sumatra looks like a good spot to visit,
I have been to Gilis before great place!
