She just appeared on ABC Radio National today (9am) to talk about her speech and why she made it.

More info here...
www.abc.net.au/radionational/programs/lifematters/noni-hazlehurst/7404174

My comments:

* Totall agree with her 100%
* Society has become too self-indulgent and selfish
* There is a "war culture" or "winning at all costs" happening throughout the Western world, and Australia is no different from this

The consequences?

* Arrogance, greed, selfishness, intolerance and of course violence.

Look around you!

* Women victims of domestic violence and sexual assual - UP
* One punch attacks and the "it's mine or else" attitude - UP
* Rapes - UP
* Street gangs and crime - UP
* Youth disengaged at school, looking at their phones, back chatting and talking and even threatening teachers - UP

I just wish all people would look/listen to Noni's speech and start to wake up a little.

Peace

So where is the vast bulk of negativity coming from?

Obviously from those that constantly whine about how bad treatment this is, or how despicable that policy is.

Sure, turn off the TV and read a book, or flog the Xbox and sit around a barby and chat, but who will choose to do it?

Solutions are what are required in the workplace, should be no different in the family home.

Legalize the registered use of marajuana,, use of ice and unknown types of pills will probably decreace ,
but there will probably be a big increase of useless entities wandering around , but the violence would decrease.
Not many would agree but when you get past 50 and look around at who is using pot, mostly respectable , normal family type people, ( well thats certainly the case up here) . you willl always get the dope heads , thats the down side.

Oh and here comes the barrage

Hmmm pot.

What does it solve on a permanent basis?

Unless you're critically ill.

With all the things going wrong like Lofty said, it is terrible. I agree we are ona downward spiral.

The one consistent thing in the last 50yrs of societal decay has been Playschool. Noni and her types have caused this, it is clear as day.

The corporations man, they create a need and we buy it.

We are born into a world not of our making and we die in a world beyond our control. Be congnisant of that simple law and be a moral entity along the way.

Remember doing good feels good. Win win. The alternative is to be a rat fighting other rats, yay, I won the last piece of mouldy cheese! ...... Oh that's right I sold my soul along the way.....

Karma dude.

20yrs teaching experience here in multiple environments and positions too, you're very lucky.

We have 10yr olds throwing chairs and tables, teachers being punched with parents or carers attitudes of "we can't control Jimmy that's your job".

Your experience doesn't create our reality. That's life folks.

And that wasnt happening 30 years ago??

When I started teaching there was out of control kids at the schools I taught at doing just that.

Had enough of the alarmist claptrap coming out of the media. Look at statistics and long term trends not knee jerk headlines.

Children's behavior is a spectrum from good to bad; some schools get more of one than the other. Biggest problem is a lack of discipline, means to support it and SUPPORT FOR THE TEACHERS from the powers that be to enforce it. And I'm not talking about "spanking".

It's been my experience that parents who abdicate their responsibilities to the the school are the first to moan like ****s when their kids get the discipline they need.

Ha, I live right near a school and have to discipline the parents - in front of their snot snivelers that no , its not ok to park in or across our drive ways, even if it is just for five minutes. Its called courtesy and is showing some respect for the local people, and no the airport analogy doesn't work! Apologies work, but most of them will have a go back. Rude pricks.
I do pity the teachers, you poor bastards just have to suck it up.

Sounds like you're a good Deputy Principal, and the effect is apparent.

We create our own environment by who we are, and what we do and say.

Kudos +1 from me.

Less playschool and more marijuana.

And don't get me started on Scooby do. Those snacks are not for medicinal purposes.
