Google has a great little trick going on if you do a search. It knocks your window over to a bit of an angle

According to this guy, there's not much we can really do about it. Fast forward to 14m35s if you just want the summary.

I think the general rule is that when you can't do anything, you lie to stop the public panic, not the other around.

"number one was hit the asteroid, which we've done but now number two is really measure that period change and characterise how much we actually put out."

"I think Earthlings can sleep better, definitely I will," said DART mission systems engineer Elena Adams.

How about you Macro, can you sleep better at night now, knowing the earth is safe from asteroid impact ? Do you non-earthlings even sleep ?

Yep, suppose that one day is not an asteroid aiming at Earth ,
But big interplanetary extraterrestial space ship, bringing first ever delegation. To welcome another intelligent species in Galaxy.
So we send another dart. Bigger this time and filled with thermonuclear surprise inside.
The next is easy to predict. It will not be an asteroid or even global warming that we need to be affraid the most.

I suspect that any aliens advanced enough to visit us would be able to easily take over without any drama at all. Being able to travel so far from an inhabited world suggests that they would have technology far in advance of ours. (Unless the subs finally get built by then)

Plus the Prime Directive means that they won't bother us until we develop Warp capability. I know this to be true because I saw it on a documentary/dreamt it once.

WTF ?

The Buggles sang Video Killed the Radio Star.

Cat Stevens sang Moonshadow.

Presumably though that was a lie because a moon painted on a giant sky-dome can't cast a shadow. The fact that the moon does cast a shadow is simply further evidence of the lie.
