i quit my 8-5 very stressful job a few months back. Great salary but I couldn't sleep with the stress and way too much travel to **** places.

I have been enjoying being my own boss the last few months and reconnecting with family and friends.

As for the water time - it has increased significantly and productivity has increased too. The lunchtime kite session, no guilt for finishing early and I'll just check the forecast before I agree to a meeting has been awesome for my head space. And the challenge of making my own money has been challenging but great fun.

But I hit the water during the day and amazed that I seem to be one of the few who has realised the rat race 9-5 is **** and working us all into an early grave - the beach is empty except for the odd retiree.

Surely I'm not the only one? Who's got the most flexible job outside of retirement?!

Worked for Qld department of environment in Mackay for 5 years, was the team leader up there so kite surfed whenever the wind was up and the tide was right. Called it flexitime or coastal management.
Was too good at my job though and tey transferred me to Brisbane, went back to strapless in the waves but mainly on weekends.
Now moved to a small town in Norway and no more water time but 50cm of powder this week
Good on you, we all go through phases I reckon but damn thankful every day I wasn't born poor or in the third world

Spent 6 years on a two week on, two off roster working in the Pilbara. Just signed onto a new contract, 2 weeks on, 6 off, happy with that.
