You've got to fight hard to stop idiot planners and council functionaries ruining things. They just don't give a rats about how people actually use things and what they love about the beachscape.. They are too entranced with doing a development they can add to their own portfolios and resumes.

public voice seems to stop one attempt by a developer, then some respite, then the developers try again. people just need to accept they'll need to keep fighting it. it's the typical gold coast pattern ( we need sensible transport infrastructure, not so the trophy/monument/tourism type developments)

Someone needs to put Koalas behind the dunes at Scarborough.

Or maybe discover the same swamp grass that was "unique" to Lancelin 1/2 acre swamp that prevented development there.....

Maybe the Northern road bit can be declared a sacred cultural site??

Many years ago, Dads mob left lumps of '32 ford scattered all through those dunes after messing about with home brew go-faster fuel

Southern end of the intended development area was pretty special to me and a couple of the girlfriends too

I don't really want to access the beach via public transport with 2 boards 2 masts boom 4 sails etc of have to park on the eastern side if west coast highway and then carry it over this road to the beach. So its probably not in my best interest to sign this partition.

The more scandalous of all this ridiculous developments is that all of them without exception are counting on Tax payer Funds to cover parts of it.
Being in the way of incentives, waivers etc.
We live in a Capitalist regime, the rewards and also the risks have to be responsibility of the ''entrepreneur'' himself.
STOP burning taxpayers monies to cover bonuses of fat cats developers.

Do t confuse true capatlism, with what is now a suedo socialist regime. Centrally controlled government endorsed private enclosure of the economic rent derived from such developments. the market is no longer free and capitalist in nature but highly manipulated but those trying to capture money for doing nothing (ecominc rent). it's a rigged system And while the corruption isn't as obvious as say for example only a country like Indonesia, its is far more sinister, clever.

who takes the gain when the land price rises after tax payer funded infrastructure is put in here. The people? Or the private land holders? But who then foots the principle and interest bill on the credit used to put in the infrastructure?

Therein lies the true heart of the economy and why the elite get richer and the average person since the 70s has got poorer adjusting to inflation. note inflation is just a tax on the poor and middle class by the way.

Looks goods! I mean this is a capital city right? Dress it up. It would be great to sit in the parklands and sip a WA red or two and watch the sun go down!

^^ you already can. There is park along there already

This reduces access for watersports enthusiasts, to cater for big business development. It is nothing about the ordinary persons needs.
Less carparks close to the beach, more buildings near beach - and a swimming pool which is plain dumb.

Love the way they talk about "people told us they wanted......" and those listed, were the only categories to choose from. Survey designed to be twisted to use in marketing what they were always going to do anyway. The consultation was a joke.

mra look like they have done a very comprehensive piece of planning. I still think they need to add more gaps in to the high rise profile along the north south long section of West coast hwy, particularly on the coast side. at least it is better to control the development with a masterplan rather than adhoc individual developers coming up with their own plans.
parking and traffic increase with the density and amount of commercial also needs a much closer scrutiny. traffic along west coast hwy is now diabolical at peak hour, so increase the density like they have shown and it will be grid lock.

wow just watched that video on the masterplan. Horrendous piece of PR bullsh1t that most will buy. Cheesey doesn't even come close. I like how the building height changes were glossed over right at the end for about 10 seconds after all the people having such a good time at the new facilities were offered. Wow. Now, who stands to gain the most here...those people who the land over which all this hoobalah will be built...with our fckn money.

So while the next generation is limped with the principle and interest those elite land owners will take the gains.

So us idiotic commoners can watch the sunset with a bottle of red at parks that already exist anyway. Follow the money people, follow the money.

Has no relevance to me
I wouldn't be seen dead relaxing in such a development, it actually puts me on edge, I look around and have sympathy if this is how your life is, just me but if that's what they want let them have it

Try to drink a bottle of red in a Scarb park! Just hope no ranger will see you public drinking.
You can't even have a beer sitting in the sand there! You need to keep the pub owner happy!
Never will I go to Scarb beach again, too many f^cking idiots sharing the sand.
Just go to my local with the yacht, anchor a few meters from the sand and enjoy my day drinking and eating, no one can tell me off!

Good point, the wealthy owners of the liquor licenses (another government granted and enforced license enclosing economic rent (gains above and beyond the actual productive value of the goods or service), bought and leveraged of land price gains, will not allow you to bring your own drinks for sure.

So that cuts that out...what's left? More cheesey irrelevant shops etc for you to spend you money on, in shops that are rented to poor business owners, rent collected by the owners who also capatilises in the land over which the building is built (land and buildings bought buy the way with funny money that doesn't exist at the lowest interest rates in human history - that's right the entire history of human kind).

Do you see it yet? Do you see the infrastructure paid for by tax payers money - and the resulting interest burden, does only one thing - rewards the elite.

Hey it's money for nothing and chicks for free dudes.

Maybe you don't see it, the masses of common fools are needed by the rich elite to keep the whole ponzi scheme alive.

Yes, I know. However you barely see people using it with ''skates'' (skateboards or Rollers), kids today are too afraid to get hurt and learn how properly skateboard and most use the ''SCOOTERS''.

In my time, rollers were afraid to venture into the skatepark, and scooters would follow suit.

Yeh on the sunny coast here we had a community consultation regarding development heights, result was 4 stories high
nek minit Sekisui a Japanese company who own a massive chunk of prime beachfront land at Yaroomba are advertising the go ahead for a collosal 12 storie giant development with rockets to the moon and coffee shops galore. WTF. Community backlash. Mayor on developers side coz he slimey you can tell. Community backlash lots of signs and **** everywhere. Developer backs down to lick wounds and recount money stack.
nek minit Sekisui advertising only 8 stories or some **** WTF 4 STORIES KILL FANG KILL.

At the same time the slimey Mayor and local politicians all pushing for sunny coast airport to go international, we only need a 200 million dollar loan from Malcolm in the middle to make that happen because we don't have any money and there 2 international airports within 200kms, Bris and the Gold coast ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
