Does anybody here know the Australian surfers Dean Lucas and Adam Coleman that are missing in Mexico?
It looks like a sad story if it's true. They were driving thru a very rough (cartel crime) part of Mexico.

Dont know them but its been all over the news for a couple of days now..Looks like they have met a nasty end.
I Cant understand the risks some people are willing to take to get a good wave or catch a fish.
To me its a risk that isnt worth the pay off.
Unfortunately now seems like the family wants answers ( understandably ) and are heading over to mexico to get them.
I cant see that ending very well either. These criminals are ruthless and own the authorities
Its a horific tragedy that maybe could have been avoided.
My sympathy to the familys.

Poor buggers, sounds like they were having the time of their lives ...
Then they ended up in a scene from 'Breaking Bad'

I would think so, given the find

However it could be any kind of accident that resulted in a fire in a van, media beat up perhaps...?

Media beat up??? Local media refused to even go to the area to report it. Too dangerous the said, "they take your car and kill you".

Means nothing.
Yes they died in a rough area.

Anything else at this stage is conjecture - bad accidents happen in those areas, same as rich areas. Plenty of campers catch fire with cookers / gas / etc issues.

I am not wanting to speak ill of the deceased or make things worse - quite the opposite - I just think that it is pretty rough of the media to talk about finding them dead in that area and then mention how it is cartel controlled etc....

Typical media, as if it is not bad enough 2 aussies went missing overseas... but for the media they could be in the same postcode as one guy who once grew some drugs and suddenly they ar victims of a cartel. That is fkn sad and the aussie media should hang their heads in shame (again!!!) over this.
Maybe they were murdered by crooks but nobody knows yet - LEAST OF ALL Ch7/9/10 etc who would not have a clue

Who was it that said.....? some famous dude anyway - "Writers should always tell the truth .... unless you are a journalist.."

Anyway RIP fellow water dudes.

I just realized on Friday, when the West Australian paper posted a pic of Deans father Kevin, that they used to live (maybe still do?) at Golden Bay just down the road from me. I used to see Kevin jogging and walking his dog quite often. As a keen surfer myself we often spoke about his surf travels, and his sons travels. I haven't seen Kevin for years, but last time I saw him he had gone to South America where his son showed him around some of the great surf there.
These guys, Adam and Dean, were "living the dream", and I was envious of them.
It takes courage to travel in strange, remote, and sometimes dangerous places - and unfortunately they found themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time.
They were experienced travellers. I think Dean started surf travelling in his late teens, so we're talking 15 years experience here.
I really feel for Dean's and Adam's family and friends. It's one thing to die in an accident, but to be brutally killed in an unprovoked attack by some low life ****bags is very hard to come to terms with. It's just a horrible, horrible thing !!
It looks like they have caught the perps now, so let's hope they get what is coming to them !!
Unfortunately it won't bring Adam and Dean back.
My condolences go out to Adam's and Dean's family and friends.
