If you place a bet and the horse later gets scratched cos it has an ingrown toenail or a funny cough, you get your $$$ back.

Now this year, the bosses of the racing mob sent a vet to check on the favourite BEFORE the race. Long before....
They knew something was up.
The next day the favourite then died, having not even finished the race.
So why was he still the favourite on the morning of the race?
Why not scratched? Why no $$$ back for the punters?
I bet if you looked at how many sizable bets were placed on the favourite every year, this year would be waay down, due to those in the know.
Don't give a flying fart about my $5 but it is dodgy as all blazes, surely...?

I read on the interwebs(so it must be true) that the horse was scratched cause it wouldnt take its burka off in a public place and its grassy methane gas was increasing the chemtrails. Thank god for the true version of the events on social media.

Scratching for an injury is obvious.
Then if they vet check one horse out of 24 and it stays in the comp that is fine - there always will be a grey area between fit and unfit of course.
But shouldn't they have to disclose it?
No conspiracy there - the officials made a vet go check a horse and didn't tell the public. That is ripe for corrupt activity.

Unless your heaps old and unfit and overweight, place my bet on poledancers lol, which the horse wasn't,,, I think its just one of those things.
If you could plan on making heaps of coin from a horse having a heart attack all the owners of the poor horse would have put their livelihood betting on the other horses??
I never said anyone could predict a heart attack. The organisers sent a vet over.
That is not ordinary, surely. Did it happen to many of the other horses?
The owners chose to let it race. If they withdrew it, punters get their coin back.
But if the owners and /or organisers choose to keep it running and tell nobody that is unfair. All those who knew it got a special vet visit would not bet on it, but others do.
Like insider trading.
They should have to disclose it, cos it is at least something that would enable those 'in the know' to be corrupt.
Horse racing is probably the second most corrupt sport in australia, behind greyhound racing. Absolute mugs behind the scene. Poor Admire Rakti, should have been scratched but it may have been hard to tell.
Gambling would not exist if it wasn't in the house's favour.
That race may have been dodgy - don't really know?
But I can tell you, that if you expect horse racing to be a transparent form of gambling then wake the hell up.

I wasn't pulling the piss mark, I reckon your actually spot on. I do think its a bit sinister too the horse was clear favourite, apparently in its prime. The vets may of new something was wrong but the public don't get to know. Yet they still let the horse race and die
or maybe the horse just had a heart attack out of the blue like many young fit peaple do.
Dunno but I think you can say goodbye to your 5 bucks.
As a rule I stay away from race tracks...Too many slow horses and fast women.....

Ummm Mark, if there weren't a lot of big bets placed on the favourite this year, wouldn't it then be...kinda...not the favourite?
The horse that has the most money bet on it - that's the favourite yeah?

the stewards should of. picked up on the favorite that died. one it was a cow to get into the gate.it was frothing at the mouth.surely that would of been enough tell tale signs they should of scrathed it from the race.but no because there was to much money at stake.the horse racing industry have got blood on their hards.the horse might of lived if the vet had of flagged it.

Why do you assume the vets knew anything?
The horse could have been perfectly healthy at the time.
^^ that does not matter.
My point is that if there is something that may affect the outcome (ie the odds) ..... but it is known to only a select few, it can raise issues of corruption.
Insider trading is illegal for that very reason.
I think betting is dumb and all the losers pouring money into the TAB after horses and dogs is really sad. But can't believe a last minute check on a horse is not publicised for fairness.
