Just curious if anyone knows what the job market looks like in Perth, specifically for mechanical engineers? And what about equine veterinarians?

Thanks!

Not good for mechanical engineers unfortunately. Many without jobs or on short term contracts with the risk of being offloaded at any time. Others fly in fly out to the Pilbara.

Ok thanks for the info Bento. Just curious for now. But with the "man" who calls himself president we have in South Africa, we are heading downhill at an increased rate these days so have to mildly keep my options open

They aren't called HVAC anymore , they have had more than one name change since then . Don't fancy Adrian's chances of getting a job there . Like most fabricators in Perth , they have seen a significant down turn .

Don't give up though Adrian , get your bum in here even if ya have to pick fruit Things will pick up again. J

Still called HVAC here, but we're behind the times ;-) I don't have building services experience. I'm more experienced with mining (conveyor design etc.) and now subsea mining Will see what happens in the next 5 or so years. Have signed up with a big international company so who knows. Good to keep options open.

Im going out on a limb here and assuming something was lost in translation. While most of us think of HVAC as heating ventilation air-conditioning. There is a company also called HVAC that do all sorts of things. If y'all knew that then blame the vodka.

mechanical engineering is a varied discipline, one specific area is heating, ventilation and air-conditioning, mechanical engineers experienced in this area (HVAC) may have opportunities in Perth as there is a bit of work around at the moment.
And yes there was a company called HVAC a long time ago working in this area and they employed HVAC engineers.

Was just filling in for Adrian as he may not have picked up on the dual commentary.

p.s. I think the company HVAC is still going in Qld at least and do some mining services too. May be wrong as only very limited contact with them a while back.

As a mech eng i was out of work for 9 months last year. from what i gather the job market now is much worse.
I've no idea which other countries still have much design and construction going right now, it would be nice if a few more of the blowins that came to perth over the years since the GFC left so the local crew could have some work.
