Has anyone used those Lockrack devices ( advertised on here ) on theirs car roofs to carry sups and windsurf gear.
Looking to use something easier than straps as Im vertically challenged!

Don't you still need to use straps, the bars are just to stop theft...?

I can't see they would hold a board down, it would be able to move up and down a bit

You'd have to be very vertically challenged if standing on the door sill or tyre and u still can't reach

Buy a set,, had them for about 6 months now.
They are a great product..

No straps needed.. The angle of the bars hold the board down.

Although putting multiple boards on top of each other may not work depending on the width of the boards.

Give the distributor a call or email, he was really helpful when I was looking.

Work great. I do a seven hour trip up the coast each year and not a problem. I have a set of short and long arms depending if I am carrying one or two boards.

OK have to revise my opinion then
How do they hold a board down with the infinite amount of adjustment needed to apply the right pressure? I gather a ratchet system but very fine toothed..?

^^^ Nar that just reinforces what I thought - it has a lot of holes so it is not infinitely adjustable.
There will often be a slighty too tight position and slightly too loose position
Might be fine travelling for short distances but I can see that if it is the tiniest bit loose the board can move up and down... even a couple of mm. At highway speeds in wind that can cause the board to oscillate up and down and will surely cause damage. No way would I use that system - especially for a couple of boards stacked up - for a 5 to 10hr drive. How do you get the right hold on a SUP and surfboard at same time? Or two windsurf boards say slalom and wave? Can it

I stick with the old standard straps, they are way cheaper, infinitely adjustable, don't slip, and for safety I use two on the front if travelling any distance. Plenty of times I have done 110kph into a 30kn wind = 150kph so I'll run with cheap and works.
Only advantage I can see with Lockrack is simple for dummies and theft proof. Anyone with a lot of gear and going to the beach a lot buys a van or wagon = simple and theft mitigation too

Great product. Might not cover every scenario but certainly do the trick for me. Mark is clueless.

For asking a question....?

I wonder how they work, can't see they would work in some situations but maybe they do, I am asking in the interest of NOT being clueless after somebody informs me. That seems to be what a forum is about. Or you could just make short little snipes but that's your choice.

one of the main advantages is that you don't have to stress about wind when putting you board on the roof, especially if like me it's a 14" sup on an iload !

Just slide it in the downwind side bars that you left upright, and you only now need to place the other bars and you're done, 20 seconds to secure the board, no running around the van, climbing on wheels, throwing the tie rope over the board, repeat....

Mark, if you see them in flesh you'll realize there is no board movement possible once secured. the arms and bars have some sort of split rubber ta adapts to the board.

are these suitable to fit on a tradie rack on my dual cab, I work away so my wife and daughter don't normally paddle whilst im away due to not being keen on their ability to secure the tie down straps efficiently and risk seeing two boards hurtling backwards off the ute on the highway. I have rhino bars on the dual cab roof so id put one on them and then id prefer to have the second on the tradie rack...is that possible

Yep the guy who sells them was kind enough to deliver my rack to me on the goldcoast, he had a tradie ute and was carring a surfski on it with the lockrack system.
