Can't think of another Aussie sportsman that gave 110% every single time.
The never say die attitude that saw him win many a 5 setter is sadly lacking amongst many of our current crop.

I'm not a massive tennis fan but certainly appreciated the blokes tenacity

Thanks mate !

Yep, not into tennis either, but when it came to the team side of things, Davies Cup, this bloke would play until his heart stopped.
Has his detractors, but a team man through and through when it came to playing for his country

Ummmmmm, not quite, and there was heaps of problems with Hewitt early in his career....age humbled him

He wasn't as bad as Nick or Bernie, but Hewitt has played his part in the rise of the young spoilt tennis brat.........

He was entertaining on the court, and some of his efforts have been very gritty, inspirational......

Deserves his spot as an Aussie sporting superstar,

Although, I wouldn't rate him higher than Mundine......

^^^ I was told by someone that went to school with him that he was a spoiled brat at school that thought his sh!t didn't stink, and wasn't well liked by many of his fellow students due to his 'superiority complex'...although I agree re; great sportsman now though and can only assume that he has mellowed with age & experience. He has definitely given it his all from day one though.

It may just be the culture as with many 'celebrity sportspeople' and can hope that a few of our other (young) upcoming tennis stars learn some humility through the course of their careers.
