Heya,
Just wanted to do the 4x4 track from Lancelin to wedge but don't have anyone to go with as am reasonably new to Perth. Is there a website I can get on to ask/check if anyone else organisin a trip so I can come along or to look for a partner in 4x4 crime?
Cheers
The track is officially closed, has been for about 5 years, last time I was there they were working pretty hard to make access difficult, not sure what state it is in now though?
Dept of Defence did continue to allow people to 4WD along the beach when the training area isn't being used. There was also talk of a replacement recreational 4WD track being put in on the eastern side of Indian Ocean Drive through the old Eastern Training Area/Beekeepers Reserve but I've not heard whether it happened or not?
Last nights news said something about a whole heap of tracks being closed north of Jindalee and Alkimos.
Although I have made use of these tracks I can understand the sentiment in their closure.. the amount of filth laying around and idiots driving around is crazy. I have seldom felt as unsafe as I do whilst driving around there.
Use to go to Wedge a lot, the easy way is to go on the track for 1 km and then jump on the beach past of the sand dunes, at low tide the beach is like a freeway. I used to hate the track as it was always in bad condition. Now you can drive to wedge on the sealed road and turn left where indicated.
I thought Wedge was accessible from Leno again. Of course likely to be wrong ![]()
If you are looking for people to go along or for you to join in (but don't want to join a club), then check out perth4x4.net
