Just a little story about what I believe to be called Karma. I am not rich. My wife has worked sporadically over the last 2 years after her long term employer shut down = small mental break down = battling to stay employed = hard to pay mortgage etc... We are going OK though; basic tastes in life, allot of love (and a little Wild Turkey!!). My niece is doing it allot harder. Her husband is out of work and trying his hardest. Christmas looked bleak so I went halves with my Mum in a $500 gift voucher for Woollies companies for them to put food on their table and have bought some fishing rods for her 2 kids (my great nephews??) for Christmas and felt good about things. I told my sister to tell her it all came from my Mum, I am not involved. I don't want accolades or to embarrass her or her husband, just give the kids some happiness. So today I get a phone call from my local pub telling me I have won the Wild Turkey Raffle and consequently a Wild Turkey wooden barrel about the same size as a wine barrel (empty though!!). Pretty happy about that!! Karma?! I don't know and am not a mung bean eating hippy but do believe in positive vibes. If you do good things, good things will come your way. No real message otherwise. Just have a positive effect on someone else this break and hopefully the vibe will come back to you....and don't text and drive....

Social researcher and psychologist Hugh Mackay has spent 40 years asking Australians about their lives, loves, hopes, ambitions, fears and passions. In The Good Life, he asks and answers the ultimate question: What makes a life worth living? His conclusion, drawn from his research, is provocative and passionately argued. A good life is not measured by security, wealth, status, achievement or levels of happiness. A good life is determined by our capacity for selflessness and our willingness to connect with those around us in a meaningful and useful way.

You just described what an author took a whole book to relate in one paragraph.
It's a good read though if anyone is looking for a holiday book.

In my experience that's true. If you're good to others it comes back to you many times over in many different ways. It works the other way as well.. Rarely happens immediately though..

Why not try and have a positive effect on people all year round?

This is how pac mentality works,
If I'm nice to you , more than likely you'll be nice to me.
Two is stronger than one.
Then it's easier to rape and pillage our neighbours

I had to Google what TLDR stands for. Nice acronym for an extremely lazy bastard. Have you ever read a book? Studied for a qualification? So you have the attention span of a gnat which suggests that you are from a different generation to me. For you to classify me as a piss head would you to have an idea of how much I drink. This may be calibrated against your own consumption levels (obviously zero) or perhaps you choose to use some other form of measurement? Please let me know, but if I buy a bottle of bourbon it lasts me around a month (normally does) which at the stated quantities of 22 standard drinks per bottle equates to approximately 5.08 standard drinks a week (22 x 12 = 264/52 = 5.08) am I a piss head? Not by a long shot. I gave the presents to my sister today (who happens to be a Buddhist monk with a degree in ethics, 10 years of study in total. She had to read more than a paragraph Miser so you would never qualify) and it was all positive so that is the way I will continue to think of it.

Imax, it could not be further from pack mentality. 'Two is stronger than one' is entirely the wrong interpretation. It is more 1 is equal to 1, do unto others as they do unto you, you get what you give etc...... It was entirely individual mentality on my part and I expect nothing in return so you are so wrong you should be ashamed. Someone should warn your neighbors if you plan to rape and pillage them though. You are a dangerous freak although if I had to live in Victoria I would be angry to. Commiserations !! Your 3 weeks of weather when you are able to access the ocean should start soon. Get out there and enjoy!!

To everyone who got it, we seem to be in the majority so all good (except if you live next door to Imax, sleep with one eye open!!).
