I know this is a watersports forum but there's enough of us on here who are die hard Rugby supporters. Very sad day to hear of the passing of a true legend. Lomu changed the game and his legacy will live on for a long time to come.

40 years old, too young!. Amazing acceleration for a man of his size.

Very humble man, a work mate of my dads idolised him in the uk, he did a presentation for him on his last day of work, I remember him against England in 95 flattening about 5 players then basically running over mike Catt like a tank

Some great footage there. It must have been terrifying having that fella run straight at you.

He had a pretty good step and some amazing pace too for a giant of a man!

Saw him once in Manners Mall in Wellington...... was too scared to approach him, so just avoided eye contact and kept on walking

After watching that amazing footage, the thought crossed my mind of what sort of life would you live if given the choice. The life of Jonah, a once in a lifetime talent, forever remembered as the greatest athlete ever to play your chosen sport, but dead at 40. Or a life of mediocrity, no real achievements but a satisfactory existence, with a unremarkable demise in your late 80's? RIP Jonah. What an athlete and happy to have seen him go round in those world cups. Just awesome (a word used too often but justified in this case)

Mmm, great question TH.

No doubt a great man, a great player and an inspiration but my tears roll knowing that he can't have his real wish; seeing his kids grow up. May they take strength from him.

Vale Jonah.

yep, he'll be right as this is the game they play in heaven :)still sadly he will be missed as one of the greats here on earth would have made a great speed sailor :)

I've decided to go the mediocrity route.

Jesus, you forget how awesome he really was in his prime. And most of that footage was over a period of a couple of years. Tough hand to be dealt but will be remembered as a true legend.
