Australians have fewer rights than citizens of other countries where similar legislation has been ruled illegal by the courts. What a great country we live in.
More importantly I do believe it's International No-bra day today.

As far as I can tell here is what is being retained. Correct me where wrong:
- Who you're talking to on the phone. Not the conversation. i.e. Your phone bill.
- Who you email. Not the content. Only if your email is hosted in Australia (not hotmail, gmail etc.).
- The IP of the sites you are visiting. Not the content. Not the address/URL.
Information sharing and hackers mean this is all probably moot anyway.
Another Abbot gov't clusterfkuk.
Crime stats from Europe show metadata retention an utter waste of time and money.
Meanwhile, ISPs already shutting down as compliance too hard.
Meanwhile, big data dumps get hacked left right & centre.
Meanwhile, anyone nasty with half a brain goes incognito.
My guess: it'll be tossed within 3 years.
Enter the TPP............This is really about copyright protection.........
Metadata will show you seeds, torrents etc....... its just not that simple as an IP address.
I'm probably stating the obvious but AFAIK if you use VPN your ISP doesn't see any of your traffic. so if you really concerned why just not use VPN service? There is plenty to choose from.
what a waste of tax $$$ as anyone with half a brain can bypass it...
edit: kiteboy beat me to it
Who are the best VPN providers? I still want to visit Kickass to D/L tv shows.
Can you get VPNs for iphone and androids?
check out private internet access, should work on iPhone and android too (according to their website). I'm sure there are others
hide.me/en/ Been running (paid)this for 8 months now no probs. host is in Malaysia, No logs no Jurisdiction for international subpoenas. The Australia liberal government just received a 3 million dollar backhander from roadshow entertainment to implement copywrite. (will supply the interview once I find it)
How much does Hideme cost per year? I'm happy to pay a couple of hundred $$ if it means i can make use of a 100mb connection :)
Google tells me that some VPN's won't allow torrents? Does Hideme allow them?
Edit. www.bestvpnproviders.net suggests Private Internet Access is the way to go for torrents. $39.95 a year seems too cheap.
