Don't be quick to bag mining , mining saved australian arses throughout the GFC. May even save our Arse through this **** fight. Btw I don't work in the minerals sector.

Maybe you could enlighten us on your pillar of strength and virtue approach?
Mates missus flew back to her Pilbara workplace, to be told she now works a 4 week on / 2 week off roster. [they are not happy]
could have been worse - a few months ago, she was trying to convince hubby that they should buy a little caf?.....

I was talking to 2 friends in Perth who have been handed the same 4/2 roster. They were okay with it and very happy to have a job still. Some people have got no f%$ken idea how fortunate they are to still have an income

I would imagine you're hurting pretty badly being the owner of a couple of coffee shops Cauncy. I hope the latest $1500 for workers from the government helps ease the pain a bit.

Rosters play havoc with relationships and family's, and running a now 28/14 will place more strain on the family units sadly.
The sad issue, is there is no end date in sight at this time for those impacted. This process could become the norm.
The work place hazards with people struggling to handle extended site times is also something that is an unknow quantity
Fortunate to have payed work yes, but unfortunate in regards to family/partner time impact ![]()
Lucky for me we survived all this stuff and no longer part of the FIFO lifestyle

Maybe its obvious to people, but I guess the mines have to run these rosters as they need to be able to contain the situation if someone should be infected. A 2 week period at home is going to show up something if something is there, which is better than at the site the next week.

And Telstra !?
SOMEONE START CLASS ACTION ON THE Australian government !!!Is Telstra remaining a government business? Two class actions would need to be brought against the Australian government
Pre-point: Unemployed require a mobile phone COMPULSORY, or consultants will deem they are not attempting to find a job !!!1. For selling Alcatel 1 phones on plans through Telstra (and allowing it through other retailers) and having no sensible supply of battery availability by retail (Tli019D7). No Alcatel 1 phone replacement battery is sold for Alcatel 1 types in Australia except with "massive difficulty locating" wasting time and money . To obtain one buying from an online supplier is NOT SUITABLE timing and management for unemployed, that being why a replacement must be obtained (travek sequences to the only 3 to 5 places possibly has a battery for is damagingly )inconvenient and costly !!!
The cost of search online plus travel turns a 15 dollar AUD battery 35 to 40 dollars and minimum 5 days to get back into an email box or here an employment call.
2. For thirty years or more the Australian government cancels drivers and riders licenses for unpaid fines (nb: current operative license - you cannot cancel a cancelled license dumb-F), HOWEVER, there is no reliability to find or be chosen for a job without a drivers license and your own registered vehicle. THIS MAKES PROBABILITY OF NEVER BEING EMPLOYED AND NEVER PAYING THE FINE(S) !!!
approx. 90 percent of jobs require at least the drivers license, around 50 percent must have own transport to and from work in all weather conditions without failure due to weather !
re number 1. class action, an unemployed person can be hit by email security calling for a check to send a code to their mobile phone no matter whether the username or password were correct (various problems with email server time cause backup email sec. msg. extremely unreliable - internet timeout and no more change or money for unemployed re-hire). that can mean 5 days to a month before the phone can be supplied a battery !re
number 2. class action , the way modern first world workers are chosen by employers and partially deemed capable assured is "drivers license", also assurity they will get to work no matter the travel environment and weather conditions, (a favourite to interfere with by corrupt authority and police). note "pure veto" of punishment or sentence is if the the sentence or punishment requires no more than the singular personal individual authority decision and/or if the authority does not have a structured pre designated pre-public informed action of punishment or sentence clearly defined. (better law - unpaid fines: vehicle of no more than 5000 aud or motorcycle no more than 5000 aud not more than 400cc (and 1 year min. whether fines paid or not) until paid - continue licenses on standard grant system)
