I expect the usual witty responses , but seriously what is the best treatment ? & expected duration of recovery ?anyone have experience with this type of injury ?
How long is a piece of string.
Grade 1, 2 or 3 tear.
I had a Grade 2 which was 8 weeks until I could play rugby again without pain.
Ice (fun) early then the physio for ultrasound and stretching (gentle).
Grade 1 hilly ,good most of the time now but some slight movements in the wrong plane bring a prompt painful stab....
full blown hard hitting kick up the peverbial will work wonders for your groin pain...the tears will be real
another option is a gentle massage from a big fat male nurse... you'll be so nervous wondering (and hoping????) what will be next
thats the start of witty responses

RICE
About 4 to 6 weeks. Vulnerable to tearing worse now if you are still doing sports.
Depends how old it really is, how much work it's had and for that matter how much work it still gets, nothing like a well oiled machine.....

Ok That's enough guys, I thank those who came through with intelligent useful advice...The rest of you , well there's always a place for humor in the world...my wife thinks any pain inflicted in the groin area is funny ???? why ?
I endured a soft tissue (groin) injury throughout the last few years of my bush footy career. Best advice from me would be 'ice-ice-baby'!
My last game was a grand final and due to the amount of injuries that our team had accrued throughout the year - our trainer called in her assistant...a very innocent and attractive 20yo masseuse. I was next in line before the game and as every happily married man would, when the newby asked what needed attention - I confidently lay on the table and pointed to my groin area.
Now although this story could have made the 'Penthouse Forums' if my imagine had over-ridden the pain, it turned out that she was very good at inflicting pain - and my groin injury was addressed with absolutely no chance of me getting a 'rise' during the event.
^ Yep, I've got a good mate who practises myopracty, she derives immense pleasure (judging by her sniggers) when she gives me a psoas treatment. Feels like you're being ripped in half.

Childbirth. That's why a kick in the nuts is funny.
