What did they think was going to happen?

Restaurant faces closure after customers take advantage of their 'pay what you want' policy and fork out less than $3 a meal
>Sydney restaurant Lentil As Anything has a 'pay what you want' policy
>The vegan restaurant, which opened in 2014, is under financial pressure
>Average customer pays less than $3 for their chef-prepared meal
>Store manager says customers who can afford to pay should pay more

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3754538/Sydney-s-Lentil-vegan-restaurant-faces-closure-customers-advantage-pay-want-philosophy.html

It was a nice idealistic idea, but reality bites.

Well to be fair a lot of restaurants don't reach 2 years with a conventional business plan either.

Well too be fair bro they do have two restaurants in Melbourne that have done amazingly well and the whole idea is to give disadvantaged people access to a nice meal...the one in St Kilda is amazing and has many top chefs volunteering as well as all the floor staff....I don't think the idea is to make loads of money either

for more than three dollars you'd want a bit of meat with it

Nah, its meant for the vegan hippy types, and meat is sinful. Its funny though that you would get some people that will pay more than the meal would cost, and others who would take them at their word and pay as little as they can, even when they have plenty of money.
