If anyone thinks that setting fire to little quokka is funny then a lengthy jail sentence should be imposed. I would say 12 months minimum should give them time to reflect and for the inmates to show them a few new skills in the showers.

Plus 50k fine and deportation back to their homeland.

Idiots.

If it's a nasty foreigner, from a country where capital punishment is used, then apply that...

This post is not intended to be taken seriously. Although the $50K fine and a ride on the first plane home sounds good... Shower rape... Hmmm...

I can't really comment because we used to do the same thing to 3rd formers (year 8) on the school bus.

They breed kids tough in Bluff.

There's plenty of residents here (sb) who think animal cruelty is funny. It's the mark of a nasty person if you ask me.

Isn't it weird that they traveled all this way just to amuse themselves with animal cruelty? I would be more amused if they set fire to their own pubic hair.

There are links between animal cruelty and cruelty to humans. Apparently people (if you can call them that) who treated animals badly also harbour the tendency to commit crimes.

Last I heard they were fined 4000 and being kept in jail till paid. Ive only ever been to Rotto once cant remember but surely there should be a huge sign in a form of diagram to inform people not to mess with the animals. Although most tourists have worked out not to mess our sharks, snakes, crocs, box jelly fish or funnel webb spiders. Gutless idiots. Its a sick act.

Those poor quokkas have copped it. I remember a news item in the late 90's about some school kids playing quokka soccer

Hi, if they will be deported, I do hope we will not pay for it and them claiming, in their country of origin, unused return ticket!. Manitulak.

Ha ha. But no seriously the point being they can read a sign warning them of dangerous stuff, a sign saying harming our animals will land you in jail should be able to be read. But hey if they want to attemp to set a great white on fire after they get out of jail, who am I to stop them. Or perhaps send them up to the NT for a dip in a river. Anyway they will be going home with alot of shame.

The pain of paying $4000 will be erased from their memories in a few months, a couple of months locked up IMHO would do the trick, people need a sign to tell them harming animals is wrong

You are right. Firelighting and animal cruelty are the key indicators of serial killers.
They fall within the personality grouping of cluster B according to the DSMIV, which contains antisocial and narcissistic. But they are worse than that because they seek their pleasure with forethought.

Get rid of them!

Personally I find them disgusting little things.

With their little ratty faces, jumping all over the place as if they own the world, they all stink and most are probably covered in fleas. They treat your property as if it was their own and seem to invade quite a few idyllic islands that, quite frankly, would be nicer places without their presence.

And as to the Quokkas.....

should have just done to their tiny little balls what they did to the quokka's . Do it in forest place so we can all have a laugh and then put em back on a plane with no cream to sooth their burnt balls .

I would be pissed off to arrive anywhere in Australia and be confronted with a huge sign telling me not to set fire to/kick/torture the animals. There are too many signs already, let's not encourage putting up more for low grade morons who missed out on learning basic human decency in their lives.

Maybe one extra sign would be okay, saying "Quokka bashers required, $100 p/hr Cash. Immediate start". The ones dumb enough to inquire could be put on the next boat out and dealt with somehow.

^ Actually they've won more than they've lost. I read it somewhere. There's a list.

I like froggies as a rule. They are lefties and they have good bike races :)

I very much doubt that setting fire to small animals is a national trait.

I believe we should not allow this thread to turn into French bashing. Like all nationalities, there will be a tiny percentage of scums and low life.

I recall a few of our rugby players did some nasty things to the little animals a couple of years ago.

True true. Just look at Aussies in Bali, Thailand or even London.
