Cruise ships.....will be interesting to see what will happen to these floating petri dishes post viral. They are coming under massive global backlash not just due to their ability to spread disease from port to port but also because of their:
- environmental damage with dumping massive amounts of waste at sea
- social and environmental impact on cities/towns/small islands when thousands of people descend upon them
- unhygienic conditions on board
- money laundering in the Caribbean by being registered there whilst belonging to countries with headquarters elsewhere.
- employment and treatment of cheap labour
International waters give these things the rights to be a law unto themselves and it looks like they take a serous amount piss when it comes to this.
Personally don't get the attraction of spending weeks floating around in a massive tub with thousands of others eating copious amounts of food whilst laying around pools, playing bingo and being "entertained" by shows and the like.
Would like to hear what others have to think about the future of cruising.
To the Gruby Princess Imax, they only need to add a G at the front, always thinking economically me ![]()
I reckon cruising will return to where it came from. It will return as a passtime of the wealthy instead of just being a floating budget chain restaurant packed full of bogans and pensioners.
Cruise ships is we're the term posh comes from .
Port out Starboard home .
The rich would do that so they had the land views both ways .
Just my bit of trivia for the morning
I've only been on one cruise ship and it was average at best, average food, beverages and entertainment, each day is the same as the day before,a view of the ocean only to dock at crap ports, fair to say I'll never go on another again.
