HBF - "join before June 30th and get a GoPro"
Well I joined 15yrs ago, more like 30 if you count my parents having me on their policy, and got fk all.
They advertise cover from $9 a week or something, and I am paying $90 per week for my family.
Where's the GoPro for the loyal....?
I rang my bank (who are tops and you get a real person in 15sec) but when I give them my member number they say "wow you've been with us for a long while!" But any leeway or extra consideration when you can't quite satisfy the loan criteria? Nah, "computer says u missed out by 0.2% and I can't over-rule it..."
grrr
Mark - Just let them know that you want to cancel your policy and they'll offer you an incentive to stay.
I guess they might have thought "Why would a senior citizen need an action cam" lol ![]()

Well till, next year anyways, when the all new "mobility scooter mount" comes out. lol![]()

But seriously, get with the times, long term with one group means nothing in this day,n age.
Its now a waaaaay more competitive world out there than what it was way back then.
You need to swap banks, energy suppliers, mobile providers, insurance companies every year to get the free go pro you feel bad not getting.
Most insurance companies will keep your "no claim bonus" etc, if you swap to them, the times have changed for the better, lots more competition for our business is a good thing.
If you shop around a bit markie you will probly find a better bank, than the one you have been with for 30 years, that you could have bought 20 go pros for yourself in the fee's savings alone![]()

.
Shop around, long term with one company means squat in modern days, if not happy with the cost then dont be too scared to tell them, they WILL usually suddenly drop the price or send you the go pro you want
I just went through all this with my grand dad, was saying the same as you "I have been with the same company for 30 years so they re looking after me " lol
I just saved him $800 on his insurances by changing him to a new company, and got him a free Ipad, which is like giving a........ wellll...... Ipad to a senior citizen..lol.......opens up a whole new world of problems . lol![]()

It might have been an intelligent post if you didn't start with sledge but because you did start with (another) sledge the rest of the post was kind of pointless.
^^^ +1
Loto, I already pay zero fees with that bank so no need to drag another thread off track by assuming I am clueless.
Changing is not always for the better, somebody I know put all their insurance policies with one company and saved heaps. I tried after seeing his great success - but I could not do that ......... after an hour on the phone sorting it all out, they would not insure my car as the accessories exceeded a certain percentage of the cars value (that's the trouble with a 10 y/o fourby worth about $5K as the replacement cost for bullbar, towbar, racks etc is too high). They will continue with the policy as the car depreciates, but you can't start a new policy for a fourby that is with $5K and probably has $4-5K accessories. So you can't always change.
Then if u live in the country you'd be mad to go to a minor phone company, Telstra has the service coverage, period.
Some things I could change but that's not the point - they should try to honour loyalty as there is less admin in sending me a bill every month than there is is new policy creation, extra manning the phones to talk to all the new customers, sending out brochures, advertising, blah blah.

So Lotofwind, I don't suppose you are planning on changing your internet forum provider ?

Companies exists solely to make a profit. If you are going to stick with them no matter what then they'll take you for as much as they can get and give you as little as possible back. You are their best customer.
New customers are enticed with go pros and shiny things. Profits increase when they are lured in.
It's purely a numbers game. Don't take it personally.
Mark, same issue with my 4X4 and the bullsh!t answers I received when negotiating an allocating an "agreed" value
Closest I could come was a limit of I think it was $20k.
Ended up calling that insurance group that is associated with nostalgic cars and non run of he mill vehicles (starts with Sh.....s) To my surprise, they were great to deal with, just like all insurance mobs when they think they have a rat in the trap.![]()
Anyway, they were comfortable in settling on an "agreed" price and reasonably priced yearly fee, so give them a call if not insured already.
Best bit was prior non prepared to talk previous insurer, actually called me a few weeks later when I closed the insurance policy on the vehicle. Then prepared to negotiate, which I did lead him on a bit, but he couldn't match so that was that.
Was wondering where my bloody GoPro is as well
been with them bout same length as you.![]()
I've been diligently ignoring my automatic renewal statements for years on my insurance on 2 cars, a bike, health and home contents because I was under the impression HBF were giving me a good deal because of the bundle and apparent corporate discount I get through work. This year I got off my butt and did some comparisons, let's just say as each policy comes up for renewal I now cancel it Because I'm finding it pretty easy to get around 50% off elsewhere. I'm now also trying to pay annually rather then direct debit, at least now I'm forced to shop around online on each policy every year.
HBF dont even care when I cancel, I guess they've got a good run off this gravy train ![]()
*RABBLE RABBLE I LOVE MARK AUSTRALIA BUT WON'T ADMIT IT
laurie please can we get an ignore function for profiles so we don't have to read some of the dribble on here
the key to the insurance rip off is, IMO, to bundle what you can - previously, wife & I had health insurance with two different companies, two cars with their own insurance & contents with yet another.
we did the run around last year before buying new home & got home & contents; 2 x cars & health for the two of us with HBF....saved a significant amount.
I agree with you 100%. Teslstra's another one. If you pay your bill you end up with a dinosaur rate and get nothing back.
Can anyone post a link because I'm in the market for new insurance and I wouldn't mind a gopro to be honest and I can't see anything when I go to HBF's site.
^^^ Dave it says free GoPro of you join before June 20th and conditions apply - which are on their site according to the ad.
Maybe they have it well hidden
