I'd like gps, a reverse camera and be able to play audio and video in my car with the same device.

Would an android tablet do all these things.... Is there a better solution?

i was only looking at after-market car audio the other day, things seemed to have improved since I last looked (ok it was 20 years ago )

Couldn't find any prices or anywhere to buy online - what a disturbingly annoying website! Another 10mins exhumed from my life.

Right here, right now, there is a consumer with cash, who - at a whim - would buy a seabreezers recommendation online.

Or go into JBHifi/similar store and try them out. The way to navigate through some of these things is very different and you might find some you love/hate.

I think it would work well. They definitely play video and music well, and the GPS works as you would expect, as long as you get an app that stores the maps instead of relying on 3G data (unless you tether it using a phone).

One thing I would like to know is if the wireless 'IP' cameras work with them too. If so, that's be great and give you a reversing camera.

All, for a decent price.

Let us all know how it goes once you test it for us.

Find the model that interests you then throw the model number into Google as a stand alone search. I just did it and it came up with dozens of prices and websites that want to take my cash, and yours :)

^^^ Did that and it said over $1,500 not installed and without a reverse camera. Kenwood are a quince of a company. If they were homeless and begging, I wouldn't chuck em 10 cents.

An android sounds heaps better. With a bit of hacking it should work.

Oh, and one more thing... I need a dvbtv tuner running off the same device.

The rest of the world is so far behind... for some reason, Japan is rocking in-car navi/AV. Mugh like that Kenwood link...

My car has a 2-DIN touch screen GPS and AV system... plays CD/DVDs in multiple formats, including MPEG, avi, MP3. There's also an SD reader built in for more movies and music, and a USB thumb drive reader... as well as ipod connector. Does TV too. Oh and Bluetooth - you can link your phone for hands-free operation. GPS is stored on RAM-type memory. Also accesses SmartLink for real-time traffic conditions and accident updates etc. And of course reversing camera.

I bought it 8 years ago. You should see the new ones ones that do AR and have HUDs
