The other day whilst I had a little time at work I was mucking around with my photos on my phone. I had decided to categorise them as there were so many that it was becoming difficult to find the ones I wanted to look at. So I created some new folders and tediously moved them into the places I wanted to go.
When I was finished I deleted the originals from the camera roll folder and Lo and Behold, fark you Apple, the whole bangshoot disappeared into cyber space.
Normally I would take it on the chin but I had taken a few of the rigging on my yacht before I dismantled it for a sail repair figuring out, correctly, that it would be a mission trying to remember what went where.
Any ideas?

Being an iPhone 5, I assume you are running ios7?
I'm not a full bottle on how the cloud works (and pls feel free to fill me in on critical details) but I have noticed some of the photos I take are saved to iCloud. Maybe you could check there?
Does
Anyone know which photos/settings determine which photos are saved? Seems a little random from my experience?

iOS/Apple/iCloud is an idea that all your devices are really one system. If you are reading a web page on your PC and you leave for work when you open the browser on you iPhone you should be able to keep reading. That's the premise and it works pretty well. If you understand the premise it is easier to understand how it works. All is one.
Photo Stream is an idea where all your photos get copied to the cloud and subscribers to your stream will see them as they appear in the cloud. You can also add, view, edit any of the photos in your stream from any device you have set iCloud up on. Even on a PC/Windows.
[fingers crossed now Japie]
In iOS:
Settings > iCloud > Photos
If you've My Photo Stream already turned on here you might be in luck japie. I think it's on by default?
Install iCloud on your (I assume) PC:
www.apple.com/au/icloud/setup/pc.html
I checked 'iCloud Photos' in the control panel and all the photos that were sent to the cloud are now also on my work PC.
Open up Windows Explorer and you'll see an 'iCloud Photos' link/icon on the left under favourites. you can configure in the control panel where they are synched to.
If you're on a Mac your photo stream will be in iPhoto.
Something like that - your mileage may vary. I'm not sure if the photos you deleted will be synched with the cloud, that is deleted from the cloud too.
Good luck.
I hope you can't undelete photos on an iPhone
For God's sake set up a separate Photo Stream for friends and family to subscribe to. One that you manually add photos to.
My sister found out the hard way.
If you plug the phone into itunes and do a "restrore from backup" it will usually restore all the photos from your last sync. However, you will loose all the photos you have taken since your last sync.
Japie, I have recovered photos and video from a mates memory card once, I can't see why it's not possible on an iPhone but then I don't have one. I can't remember what the program (free) was but do a search.
Hey, I deleted valuable family photos from a recent UK visit, gutted..
I bought extra icloud storage which I think was $1.99 for a month (ongoing but can be cancelled), thought it was worth a shot and it worked! i can't guarantee it would work for you but definitely worth a shot for $1.99..let us know how you go
Can I restore deleted Photos on an Iphone5 ?
yes you will be able to , as long as the photos are embarrassing to you !!!![]()
In the end I was not successful in recovering the pictures.
I eventually worked out the rigging on the boat and now I can dismantle it and put it back together from memory.
Which is a very good situation as I had to do running repairs half way between Australia and New Caledonia. It was bad enough having to get to the top of the mast mid ocean, twice. Not knowing how to put it back together mid ocean would have been not so good!

Please forward your sisters "deleted" pics to Mark,
Purely for reference and research purposes of course ![]()
