I've used it for a couple of weeks now. Apart from some bugs they need to sort (pretty long list), I'm totally amazed at how incredibly smoothly it runs for how incredibly detailed and accurate it is with regards to scenery. I can't wait for VR with it

I am keen to get this game but the massive 90GB+ DL put me off as I am on a metered 4G connection atm.

Also, I will have to add a yoke to my sim racing rig.

yeah it is pretty big download. I'm still using a $65 logtitech 3d joystick from 2004. and using the g25 racing wheel / pedals as rudder.

In xplane you can use the VR hand controllers to hold the virtual yoke and throttle, work the switches in the cabin etc. so i don't bother with any real yoke or joystick or throttle and buttons. I hope VR isn't too far away in MSFS2020 and is at least as good as xplane's implementation, because it pretty much wipes the floor with most of the others graphically

an update was released today that 's taken it to another level again. you could probably now run it on an old PC and have it looking good

What size monitor are you using? I tried it on a 65 inch, 4K TV, and if you sit up close, you almost don't need the VR. In fact, I guess you end up losing some resolution with the VR headsets?

Yes there's some loss in res with my VR. which is the current oculus quest, though it's noticeably better than Vibe and rift models released just prior. I'm fortunate that work owns a few different headsets I can try.

I'm using the VR headset in 2d but converted the head tracking data using opentrack to look around in the sim.

There's a HP Reverb G2 (and a Quest 2 ) about to hit the market which should have improved clarity. The reverb g2 seems to have been tested with good reports.

if i'm playing it on a telly it's just a full high def 42" i'm using. If you've never tried VR, it's hard to appreciate just how much better and realistic it all is in 3D and with accurate responsive head tracking, especially operating all the switches by hand in the virtual cockpit. The car racing sims are amazing too. It's hard to go back to a 2d game.

There's VR headset bargains to be had on gumtree and ebay due to everyone anticipating the release of the new models, though covid seems to be delaying things and maybe these won't even launch this year
