I hope you Retire In Peace. (RIP)

I hope when your time comes you also don't "die of shame" as you once said of Julia Gillard's father, or get "put in a chaff bag with Bob Brown and be thrown out to sea" as you suggested should be done to a former Prime Minister.

Warmest regards, HG

Don't be too sad - you'll still be able to watch him on the Foxtel news channel - he's only retiring from radio broadcasting.

He's got no one left to rant to now most of his audience is on the dole. 2gb heavy weights tapped him on the shoulder. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Do you think he is about to find out that all that money won't buy happiness... but as bono knows, sharing your correct opinion with people does...

I was reading that he only quit as his doctor has effectively said that if he doesn't he will keel over.

I suspect that like a lot of people he will find it hard to go from a position where people idolize you, to being quiet and a nobody... which tells you he won't be able to.

Money is a good thing, but there must be a point where more does not give you much more out of life.

Nah, I think people like that are happy to roast other politicians, but being in the hot seat is a different proposition, but you could be right in that initially people might vote for him... .but without his radio to back him up, would people continue to listen?

^^^ Sorry, you missed my point. The new premier is Gladys, now that Jones is no longer running the state by forcing the premier's hand from behind his 2GB microphone.

Yeah, I didn't pick up on that. I never listen to Alan Jones and can't stand his way of talking at people, so I forgot that he has a lot of influence.

There was an article on SMH where some journo commented on his retirement as she had been attacked by him before, and she listed his known dislikes. Apparently he disliked Julia Gillard and Jacinda Adern. I wonder if that had any affect on JG, but luckily the NZ audience is not there to have any effect on her popularity.

My neighbour used to listen to Alan Jones in his driveway, and I swear it was like "Hi Alan, this is Steve from Windsor, and I agree totally with your opinion on the boat people"... made me wonder if anyone with contrary views every got on the air.

I can't understand why anyone would listen to Alan Jones, regardless how complimentary or contrary their views.
