With a 100,000 people lined up at Centrelink forced to share the virus, wouldn't it make more sense just to put $2,000 in every Australians bank account tonight ala Rudd's stimulus with the promise of more each month till the virus settles

That almost sounds too smart and also the fact they bail out an air line when 1/2 off the small business's in the country are gonna go to the wall.

How many accounts? 15,000,000?
That's 30,000,000,000. Or 30 thousand million dollars or 30 billion dollars... I think... there's a lot of zeros

Good idea, those 42-inch flat-screen TV's that people bought with GFC cash splash now need to be updated to 65-inch.

Keeping the airlines in existence is more about strategic thinking at a national level, it's not like small business and the unemployed are getting absolutely nothing at the expense of Alan Joyce getting his bonus.

From a schoolteacher I know, they call kids born from that era the "plasma generation".

National level me arse, Mark my words on this one the fall out to follow all the early bail outs and dwindled money such as helping out Joicy all the dole bludgers and all the big leagues could lead to and SHOULD lead to massive civil unrest and a greater gap between us rich and the poor. It's bad enough they are already stringing out the degenerates with extra money wtf do they need more money for ? To bulk buy more bog roll. The Hand out is a provincial move (To stop them looting its the only reason) that money should be going to the people employing staff and building up the hefty fund for the governments further bail outs that will be needed in the last 1/4 of this year. ****ing whoop d do they let you take it off your bass, **** me like you need money coming in the doors to have a bass bill in the first place. The dirty rotten stinky people that can't even wear shoes do their shopping in the first place should be just left to fend for themselves and the working man / women prioritised. This place is gonna be bowled over by not learning from others.

Wow, what a weird thing to say. People should be left to fend for themselves?

Give them money. Its not going to be an easy time for anyone, so you may as make it easy for people to hole up and not be stressing about supplies.

It 'should' be cheaper to stay at home and not do anything, but I bet you it costs more than you expect.

When this is over, all those people that have been kept happy with a bit of extra money are then free to stimulate the economy by spending it. Sounds good to me.

What do you want? Unemployed poor people out on the streets begging or wandering around, when there is a pandemic in progress? i think they should be given extra smokes and beer if it keeps them happy.

Why give the unemployed additional money? Why not reward those who currently work and are at the frontline - nurses, doctors, police, cashiers of essential shops, cleaners, truck drivers.....???? Nothing coming their way.

Once this has blown over, it will be back to the state and federal government tightening their belts and restricting any form of pay rise for many more years whilst they work their way back into the black.
