New 2008 Tushingham Rock released

Press Release

The Tushingham Rock gets amped for 2008

With a name like ?THE ROCK? you wouldn?t expect change, but Tushingham have done
more that just improve the design for 2008. The Rock will have new features that
improve rigging and add to the longevity of the sail.

Tushingham sail designer Ken Black says:

?The aim with the new Rock was to give a slightly sharper, more focused and snappy feel without loosing any of the wind range, tune-ability, ease of handling and general user friendliness that has made The Rock so popular. This has been achieved through refinements to the foil shape and luff curve that allow the sail to  react to changes in wind velocity more quickly, allowing the leech to 'breathe' whilst creating a smooth & consistent drive from the luff.?

Tushingham are renowned for only changing a sails design when they feel that the revamp adds something extra to the existing sail. This is particularly true in the case of the Rock.

John Hibbard, chief Rock tester and currently 1st in the UK Wave rankings says:

?Not everyone can claim Hookipa, Margaret River or even Gwithian for that matter as their home spot. The Rock has always been a sail that will work just as well in onshore mush as well as serious down the line conditions.
We wanted to extend this appeal even further at both ends of the spectrum. Confidence in your equipment is the most important thing, so whether you are using the Rock for a competition heat, a mast high day in Cornwall or a gale force blast at your local beach you can be sure the Rock will be able to handle it. I can honestly say that the Rock has never let me down and the new shape, with its added power punch, makes it a legend in all conditions.?

The new Rock sees extra wide seams with added reinforcement. The impact absorbing crash panel is retained and all high stress areas have had particular attention to detail. A 2.7m model has also been added to appeal to
the increasing number of hardcore kids as well as for those extra windy days we seem to be experiencing more and more. A new Tushingham 340 RDM is also on the way soon.

John adds:

?If there is a reef to wash on to or a rocky point to get attached to then I have a reputation for paying it a visit as I try and push my sailing and equipment further. All I can say is that I?m glad I ride a Tushingham as
the sails always survive unscathed, which is more than I can say for my body!?

The Tushingham Rock is available in the following sizes.

2.7m, 3.3m, 3.7m, 4.0m, 4.2m, 4.5m, 4.7m, 5.0m, 5.2m, 5.5m, 5.7m, 6.0m
