Land., a Sundance project, is an independent fiction feature film about a young Moroccan windsurfer on an epic Atlantic journey. Film maker Jan-Willem van Ewijk started working on the project in 2008 being inspired by the lives of his windsurfer friends living in a small fishing village and high-wind paradise on the Moroccan Atlantic coast. In developing the story he worked closely with Moroccan writer Abdelhadi Samih and local star windsurfers Fettah Ahllamara, Soufian Sahli and Boujmaa Guilloul. This film brings together their raw acting talents with the talents of professional actors such as Moroccan actor Mohamed Majd (‘Syriana’ ‘Incendies’) and Dutch actress Thekla Reuten ('The American’ 'In Bruges’). Also involved in this project are producer Bero Beyer of the Oscar nominated film 'Paradise Now' and Director of Photography Jasper Wolf (Golden Calf winner 'Code Bue'). The film is shooting this summer to be released to a wide international audience in 2013. Check out other articles on our project on: Boardseeker.com and SurferToday.com |
