LOCATION - Burrum Heads, QLD
DATE - March 28/29.
The annual KA Sail Caloundra Wind & Surf Speed Challenge saw competitors from around Australia descend on Burrum Heads to fight it out for the title "fastest windsurfer" and vie for a slice of the $4000 prize pool.
With 2 days of competition set aside, the most favourable conditions along the course were produced on day 1. Enabling Brisbane's Michel Vander Plit to log a top speed of 37.568 knots and take out this years overall speed title.

In the women's division, Kellie Tusler from qld's sunshine coast fought off stiff competition from the girls to become this years women's champion when she produced a top speed of 29.631 knots in the 15-22 knot wind speeds.

Earlier this month, as cyclone Hamish sat off the Qld coast, Burrum Heads proved it's pedigree as one of Australia's premier windsurfing speed locations. Several competitors from this year event attended and produced some stellar results with Michel van der Plit breaking the Australian GPS nautical mile record posting a speed of 36 knots and achieving peak speeds in excess of 42 knots.
