Light winds and sun forced sailors to adopt a relaxed approach to proceedings, as the wait for conditions continued on Spain?s scenic Costa Brava.

Day two of competition greeted competitors to the beach with clear blue skies and a gentle Mediterranean breeze. While the sailors waited for the local thermal wind to build, there was plenty of time to reflect on the previous evenings entertainments, at the official event opening ceremony.

The evening was a traditionally Spanish affair, taking place in the beautiful local town of Sant Pere Pescador, which dates back to the 10th century. Over the course of the night, sailors were treated to a spectacular tapas buffet in the picturesque town square.

The ceremony culminated with a selection of speeches greeting competitors, and commemorating the tenth year of competition at Sant Pere Pescador's impressive 7km stretch of golden sands.

As midday passed, temperatures soared, igniting hopes that the local thermal might build sufficiently to get heats underway. Unfortunately, the breeze remained light throughout the afternoon, leaving competitors free to utilize the extensive leisure facilities available at the Ballena Alegre 2 campsite.

Tomorrow?s forecast predicts the arrival of the infamous Tramontana wind. To take advantage, the skippers meeting has been moved to the earlier time of 9.00am, with heats getting underway from 9.30am.
