What happens in Vegas... Stand Up Paddlers in Las Vegas

A lake, in the middle of the dessert...
It might have started somewhere in Polynesia, but now Stand Up Paddling is the latest craze to hit the lake in Las Vegas.

In the middle of Navada, a bunch of rich folk decided to dig out a huge lake right next to the strip in Vegas. Looks pretty nice now, albeit a little bit out of place in the dessert.

Built in 1990, the lake was built (yes, like everything else in Vegas) to add a little scenery to the casino city, and 16km worth of beaches to explore. And as we all know, what's the best way to explore any kind of coastline? Stand Up paddling.

Currently there's two operators on the lake, one is a full on SUP center, providing lessons, sales and rental. The other just hires SUP equipment. Of particular note is the dog friendly attitude of 'Paddle to the core'; where regular 'doggy paddle' sessions are arranged. They also do Yoga classes to help you get rid of that gambling related stress. How thoughtful!

Anyway, if you'd like to add stand up paddling in Las Vegas to your bucket list, get yourself over there and check out www.suplv.com for some details.
