Watch two SUPs surf this gorgeous Alaskan Tidal Bore.
Always the case isn't it? You give up the best medium sized wave of the day, because you were waiting for something bigger.
Call it local knowledge, or maybe it was just a case of making the most of what you've got, but these two paddlers were ready and waiting on the Cook Inlet this week as a small bunch of waves slowly rolled upstream. In the background, snow capped mountains surround the paddlers, and just in front of the wave lies perfectly still water, mirroring the spectacular landscape around them as they cruise along. Waves this small are only able to be surfed by stand up paddle boards and perhaps some surf ski's, try paddling into one on a surfboard and you'll be very disappointing! While they might look large enough, their not-quite-the-same structure makes them far weaker than your traditional beachie.
