We love Christmas time… The water is warm, the skies are blue and the waves are great for SUP surfing. We also love the photos we get every year of people trying to stand up paddle in Santa outfits. How could you resist the temptation to strap on a beard, stuff a pillow under your rashie and put on a red and white hat? It happens every year!!

So to spread the Christmas cheer, we’ve put together our collection of the very best Santa SUP pictures for your viewing pleasure – Merry Christmas!

To start things off, lets look at last years winner. With a great costume, it’s detailed, authentic and true to the man himself this guy pulls into a great wave. But just when you think you could do a better job, he’s got his dog on the nose, also in a santa hat. Can we beat it this year?

Here’s Dave Kalama with a Christmas card to remember. He’s chosen the tried and true method of slapping a Santa hat on his head. But to up the ante a little, there’s also a fully decorated Christmas tree strapped to the nose of his board. Complete with tinsel and baubles, with a candy cane striped paddle to match, Kalama’s gone all out!

Surfari Stand Up Paddle and Surf shop in Massachusetts held a surfing Santa contest this year, producing this guy in full Santa getup, including boots! Apparently he said “the Brushed Carbon 9'5" Wide Point from Starboard Stand Up Paddle Surfing was his favorite board in the whole world.”

This guy gets extra props because it looks so cold! And he’s got presents in tow (also on a SUP of course). Minus points however, for the sunglasses. They’re certainly not for seeing purposes, they’re only on his head to hide his real identity! We’re onto you Santa!!

Over in Hawaii there was a different kind of surfing santa out on the water, Vanina Walsh did her usual SUP session at Waikiki, dressed in a bikini and santa hat. That still counts right? Vanina usually makes headlines every year with her Christmas paddle, this year was no different!

 
And the best of all, thanks to the GoPro camera on the nose of santa’s board, he captured a decent wipeout when he failed to turn down the line fast enough. You can see it happening, your mind screams "Turn Santa TURN!!!!" but he doesn't. Maybe he was distracted by a potential Mrs Claus on the beach…
