The biggest SUP in Australia - what's it for?

Now that looks like some serious fun!
Paul Jackson from Currumbin is up to something … And it involves one massive, and we mean massive, inflatable stand up paddle board.

Lately there’s been some images popping up of giant inflatable things that look more like surf mats than stand up paddle boards. You know the old black rubber mats that were around 30 years ago? Judging by the two runs of griptape down each side of the board, it’s designed to have two rows of paddlers standing on it, but what on earth for? There’s been a few pictures shot of similar boards in Hawaii, and then this one from Jacko who runs Roar Industries at Currumbin on the Gold Coast was published this week. Then all of a sudden, we get this video from C4 watermen over in Hawaii, of the same type of board being used in some ridiculous surf.

Picture this, 6-8 foot swell, six guys on one giant surf matt all trying to use paddles in unison, then, trying to stand up on the thing while it hurtles down the wave. Effective? Not so much. Fun? Looks like it! We can’t wait to see what happens to the first one of these in Australia, in the hands of Jacko and the guys from Roar Industries… Who knows what’s going to be released over the next few weeks!

Pauls wife Angie Jackson had this to say about it: “hhmm the pressure is on. I think this inflatable is going to be pushed to its limits after listening to Jacko and Jake talk about their plans for it.
Pretty sure there will be some awesome footage from the next big swell here at currumbin. It will be out at alley in the morning for a surf if anyone wants to check it out (on the surf cams) :)”

Stay tuned to see how this monster gets used! To get a taster of what's in store, check out the video below to see the hawaiians giving it a red hot crack.
