The Kalamo Speedway - Connox Baxter races powerboat downwind
Connor Baxter charging downwind.
He's not really racing the boat, in fact he's just racing the clock, finishing in a record time of two hours, 55 minutes. Beating rivals Dave Kalama and Livio Menelau by a few minutes. Following behind was up and comer aussie paddler Dave Kissane which is a fantastic result!
The dream run was largely due to the perfect combination of wind strength and swell, the only difficult section of the run was the final turn into the finish which was cross wind.
The Maui to Molokai run is one that's on the bucket list of almost every SUP paddlers who aspires to do downwinders, the legendary run gets completed almost daily by all kinds of paddle craft, but it's only a couple of times a year the big boys come out to play and show everyone how it can be done. Check out the video below of Connor absolutely charging downwind.
