The Big Blue Paddle for Beyond Blue - Brisbane to Sydney

A marathon paddle for Beyond Blue
They’re off! This week the two doctors Tony Miller-Greenman and Michael Leith set off on a marathon paddle to raise funds for Beyond Blue, a foundation that helps sufferers of Anxiety and Depression. Through raising awareness of healthy eating habits and exercise, the two are hoping to raise as much as they can by paddling from Brisbane to Sydney!

The 917km paddle commences in the heart of the Brisbane CBD and concludes on the famous Bondi Beach in Sydney, a trip which will take them a month to complete, finishing on Australia day on the 26th January amongst the thousands of beach goers on Australias busiest beach (on probably the busiest day of the year).

Following them down the coast will be a support car, which will provide food and support to the guys who plan to paddle around 50km per day. They’ll sleep in hotels each night to allow their muscles to recover, and there will no doubt be a few rest days in there as well (probably coinciding with the southerly wind systems).

Already the pair have received an absolute ton of media coverage from the Courier Mail newspaper in Brisbane, to television interviews on ABC, all helping spread awareness for their charity, Beyond Blue, and of the paddle itself which is of course nothing to sneeze about!

Keen to throw some cash towards the paddle? You can check out the guys website here, or stay up to date with their progress here on Facebook. We’ll bring you progress reports as they make their way down the coast on the way to Bondi, stay tuned!
