The Doubletree (by Hilton) Hotel in Cairns is not your average spot to drop a line in, unless you're one of three blokes this week who couldn't resist a couple of Barramundi.

Where would you find a Barramundi in a hotel you might ask? Not in the restaurant, but in the foyer fish pond! Armed with a spear gun one man approached the pond and quickly nabbed a 1m long fish, whisking it home to the fridge, before returning later with his mates. They were apparently after a rare white Barra in the same pond, but were spotted by hotel staff who called the cops. They arrested the guy, and found the fish he speared earlier.

"The missing fish was found almost ready to eat. We're alleging that the Barramundi from Wednesday night was cleaned and filleted, but had not been consumed."
