The 32nd Merimbula Classic starts this weekend!
Merimbula lives for the yearly competition!
Seabreezes roving reporter in the forums - DJ is already there, and as always is bringing us heaps of pics and reports as they come in. This year he's got a funny looking bike too, which features heavily in his reporting, but we guess that's what happens when there's not much swell and no friends to paddle with! It was only the first (laziest) day on Thursday and not much seemed to happen, but you can be sure that over the weekend it's going to get hectic! It always does.
Now in its thirty second year, the Merimbula classic is one of those events that will always be a standout in the Aussie competitive scene. The laid back style of the event, and the near cult following from all board sports makes it truly unique. That's why people come from all over Australia (and sometimes the world) to drink beer, eat from the legendary barbecue and sup, surf, kite or sail until they're red raw. Then they all go to the pub.
It's as traditional as Australia day, and that's why we love it. But who's going to win the title of King Mambo this year? We'll be back on Monday with all the pics, reports and gossip from down south in Merimbula, stay tuned!
