During the past month, Thailand has faced some of it's most trying times in recent history after extensive flooding has effected the whole country. Weeks of rain and monsoon conditions have left the capital Bangkok under immanent threat of going under, while many small villages on the outskirts are already under 2m of water in some areas. To date, over 260 people have tragically perished as a result of these floods, with many more bodies expected to be recovered once waters subside.

To help assist those in need, the Starboard SUP crew have taken to their stand up paddle boards in order to deliver food and supplies to their anyone who needs it. Using both inflatable SUP's and conventional epoxy boards (even a brushed carbon one!) the stand up paddlers made their way through the deserted towns, dropping off water and helping transport locals between higher ground.

The Starboard SUP headquarters are based in Thaliand, on the outskirts of Bangkok . Behind their main office is a river which did break its banks last month. Fortunately very little was damaged in the flooding, but according to the forecasters the worst of the rain is yet to come, with heavy rain and storms predicted this week. In the meantime, all of Starboards prototype boards have been tied to the outside of their workshop, and electrical equipment has been moved to the upper floors.

Starboard have since done a second trip into the affected areas, using old windsurfing boards which were left behind for the village. They say: "There will be many more trips like this needed to by made by smaller paddle teams going to really hard to reach places with small boat support."
