Stand Up Wake Surf Paddle Boarding... The Piros Wave Machine
At least that what we think it's called... Keahi and the JP Australia crew get together with a big board, a long stretch of open water and someone with a big fuel tab.
Here's how it works. You get a really really big boat, and drive it just fast enough to make a really really big wake behind it. You then throw some stand up paddlers off the transom and tell them that you're not stopping if they fall off.
What result, is some really really fast stand up paddling and an amazing show of skill from some of the worlds best paddlers. Even Piros himself has a go instead of standing behind the camera all day. Here's what he had to say about it:
"Lots of fun heaps harder than it looks , but a great day out on the water. If anyone tells you Sups can't surf show them this. Myself and Daniel O'Sullivan on the cameras. Nice job Deem's We got dragged in by a rope and let go , some of the footage looks fast but it's all real time nothing is speed up , average speed about 14 knots behind a 10 tonne 44 foot PLEYSIER game boat. "
The video was so popular that even Channel 7 news showed it during the nightly weather. If that's not a sign you've done something unique, then we don't know what is...
Check it out and give it a go next time you're bored on the back of a massive game fishing boat...
