Search for the longest wave - 6 foot and 1km long...

Stand up paddlers already get longer waves than most surfers, but this is awesome! Robby Naish, the godfather of modern water sports; and Red Bull, the cash cow of all sports in general - are on the search for the longest wave in the world.

In the first episode of his web series, he's trekked out to Costa Rica to ride one the most well known 'long waves of the world'. Teaming up with Red Bull is always a recipe for awesome footage, but Robby says it's just an excuse to get paid to go stand up paddling at these great spots.

To measure their rides, Robby is using a wrist watch size GPS device, which records sudden changes in direction or acceleration and starts a time, when the rider slows down or punches out from a wave, the time stops - recording both time ridden, and distance ridden - in this case it was over two minutes, and just over 1km. For those of you who are interested and slightly mathematically challenged, that's an average speed of 30kmph.

Check it out - and stay tuned to see Robby Naish's next adventure, in his search to find the worlds longest wave.
