Noosa Festival of Surfing kicks off this weekend
Pup-SUPping a the Noosa Festival of Surfing
The six day festival encompasses all kinds of surf craft from 14ft SUP boards in the racing, down to little five foot nothing shortboards in the juniors shortboard divisions. Best of all, is how all kinds of surfing are not only accepted, but embraced by the event organisers who for the last several years have transformed the Noosa Festival of surfing from a little surf comp at the end of summer, to the highlight of the Australia surfing calendar that it is.
Aside from the surfing, there's live music at the beach bar, trade shows, movie premieres and of course, don't forget the dog surfing competition. Which usually draws more spectators than the proper surfing competitions themseleves.
With the forecast of strong South Easterlies, Noosa couldn't be a better spot for the competition! Sheltered from the SE wind, with a bit of luck there will be enough swell wrapping around the point to hold a decent contest. Last year the event suffered somewhat of a swell drought! No matter what though, it's set to be an amazing contest yet again for 2013.
It's all kicking off this Saturday with some casual expression sessions for all surf craft. Then Sunday is SUP's day to shine with the Battle of the Paddle racing off First Point. We'll bring you all the results and action as it comes to hand.
Check out the full event program here on the Noosa Festival of Surfings website.
