Noosa Festival of Surfing kicks off this weekend - with SUP!

Noosa Festival of Surfing - 12th to 20th March
There's a great vibe around the Sunshine Coast this week - the Noosa Festival of surfing begins on the weekend!

For 9 days, all kinds of surf craft will be celebrated at the iconic point break of First Point, Noosa - from Longboards to Stand up paddle boards, and of course the usual short-boards; surfers from all over Australia will be surfing, checking out new equipment, listening to some amazing live music and generally having a great time.

Last year saw some amazing surfing despite the miserable conditions, especially in the SUP divisions - Keahi De Aboitiz even landed a little aerial off the lip in his final heat! The forecast looks a little average for this weekend, moderate easterly winds threaten the usually glassy water at First point, while a smaller swell suits the Stand Up Paddle boarders just nicely.

This year SUP racing makes its debut on Sunday the 13th, with the Laguna Bay Longboards SUP Race from 1.40pm untill 4.00pm. There will be some serious action going down, especially if there's an solid swell rolling in! Check out the course here.

The Festival is one of the highlights on the East coast surfing calendar, so if you've got a few days spare, head up the coast and check it out - you really won't regret it!!!
